Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference: Now Accepting Proposals!

Posted On January 17, 2014

Each spring semester, the Honors College hosts the Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference (GSURC), an annual event to showcase undergraduate research. GSURC provides students the opportunity to gain conference experience while presenting their hard work and innovative ideas to Georgia State students, faculty, and staff. This year’s conference will take place on April 10th in the Georgia State Student Center and University Center.

GSURC stands apart from many research conferences in its variety of disciplines reached. Submissions are encouraged for scholarly and creative projects alike. Students are invited to present papers via oral presentations, research through posters, artistic displays, and even performances and are recommended to review the proposal submission guidelines before submitting. The deadline to submit proposals is February 14th, 2014.

Last year’s poster presentation first place winner, Heather Velon, described GSURC as one of her most rewarding academic experiences, stating “GSURC was an amazing opportunity to gain insight into the research process and the work that goes into each step of a successful project. I gained helpful skills and met some truly great people. There is a uniquely rewarding feeling that comes with seeing the results of your hard work and presenting a conclusion from the data you have spent so much time with.”

Want to learn more about what it takes to prepare a solid proposal? Come to the Honors College on Thursday, January 30 at 12 p.m. for a special Lunch & Learn, “Applying to GSURC and Preparing Your Proposal.” Lunch will be served.

GSURC is free and open to the public. So, even if you are not interested in presenting, stop by on Thursday,  April 10 to take a look at the incredible work happening at Georgia State!
